The Bank of England has a blockbuster movie on its hands after allowing cameras into its gold bullion vault.
Chiefs gave permission for the nation’s gold bullion reserve of £197 billion to be filmed by a university professor for a series about Earth’s natural elements.
Martyn Poliakoff from the University of Nottingham shows racks and racks of gold bars in the vault although the location is not given.
He wanders through the cavernous space where he points to shelves which each carry one ton of gold worth £35 million GBP.
Prof Poliakoff was allowed to film the vault for the university as part of a series about elements called The Periodic Table of Videos.
